Suburban Sprouts Farm

Suburban Sprouts FarmFarm, in Mundelein, seeks to reconnect people with the land through food.  We believe that delicious, nutrient-dense foods, produced locally and following the best sustainable and organic practices, will allow us to preserve the land, air, and water for future generations.

At Suburban Sprouts Farm we are dedicated to providing the highest quality produce to our customers and will not sell any products that do not meet our exacting quality standards.  But producing quality food cannot be done at the expense of the air we breathe, the water we drink, the land on which we live, or the health of our customers.

We follow the best practices from both the sustainable agriculture and organic approaches.  

  Suburban Sprouts Farm will:

• Use certified organic seeds for all food crops (when available)
• Use certified organic germination and potting mixes
• Use on farm created compost
• Use certified organic fertilizer and soil amendments (when necessary)
• Use rotational farming methods and allow beds to rest
• Use only certified organic pest control (when all other methods have failed)
• Use drip irrigation to preserve our water resources
• Use cover crops to preserve and rebuild our soil
• Donate unsold produce to local food banks and shelters
• Work to minimize off farm inputs to lower our impact on our environment 
• Provide natural areas for native plants and animals to cohabitate with the farm and community

We hope to become USDA Certified Organic in the future however, because of our size, we cannot justify the costs of doing so at this time.
